Shooting for a medical spa like MD Esthetic presents a unique challenge: the environment needs to look spotless and professional, but if it’s too sterile, it loses the "wellness" vibe that clients are looking for. As a commercial photographer in Portsmouth, NH, my job was to make sure the space felt like a sanctuary rather than a doctor's office.

The highlight of the session for me was the group shot of the five staff members. Usually, corporate photography defaults to a "football huddle" style where everyone is bunched together. I resisted that. Instead, I leaned on my architectural photography portfolio experience to treat the lobby like a stage. I spread the team out across the room, utilizing the different depths of the furniture and the natural light from the windows. This created a sense of scale and intentionality that showed off the office design just as much as the people. It feels more "editorial" and less like a stock photo.

We also delved into beauty photography during the treatment sessions. Capturing a woman mid-treatment requires a delicate touch with lighting; you want to highlight the glow of the skin and the precision of the work without making the equipment look intimidating. By using soft, directional light, we were able to showcase the "healing" aspect of the brand. This kind of corporate branding photography is essential for high-end service providers because it proves to the patient exactly what the experience will feel like before they ever walk through the door.

By the end of the day, we had a library of images that perfectly matched the "Where Healing Begins" narrative for City Lifestyle. Whether it was the wide-angle environmental shots or the intimate beauty close-ups, every frame was a deliberate choice to show that MD Esthetic is where art meets science.
