TROY FARKAS: SEACOAST STORIES

seacoast business portraits / editorial photography nh / podcast host portraits

Documenting the man behind the microphone. From the high-energy stage of a live podcast, to the quiet, obsessive detail of his home studio, these portraits capture the two sides of Troy Farkas and his mission to bring the Seacoast together.

THE BACKSTORY

Troy Farkas is "world famous in Portsmouth" for a reason. After a career working with giants like ESPN and Spotify, Troy landed in the Seacoast looking for something deeper than just metrics and sports scores. He found it in the stories of local entrepreneurs, non-profits, and the people who make this region move. When I was tasked with shooting his feature for Portsmouth City Lifestyle, I knew we had to show the full spectrum of his process.

We started by capturing the "performer" side of Troy during a live recording of the Seacoast Stories podcast. Seeing him on stage at The Music Hall Lounge in front of a live audience was a masterclass in energy and connection. As an editorial photographer in NH, my goal was to stay in the shadows and capture the unscripted moments—the raw vulnerability of a guest or the focused intensity of Troy directing the room.

But the real "lightning in the veins" happened when we moved to his home studio. This is where the magic of the podcast is actually built. Troy is a one-man powerhouse—host, producer, and editor—and I wanted his seacoast business portraits to reflect that level of obsession. We leaned into the "staged but authentic" vibe, documenting him surrounded by the tools of his trade. It’s a complete 180 from the live stage; it’s quiet, intentional, and deeply personal.

This project is a staple in my architectural photography portfolio because even though the subject is a person, the environment is what tells the story. Whether he’s at 3 Bridges Yoga or in his own creative sanctuary, Troy’s environment is an extension of his brand. As a commercial photographer in Portsmouth, NH, I find that the best podcast host portraits aren't just about the face—they're about the space that allows the stories to happen. By the end of the shoot, we had a library of images that felt like Troy: a rare blend of professional polish and genuine Seacoast grit.
