Photographing
the design story.
Architecture, interiors, and the people behind the work.

One relationship.
Many perspectives.
My ongoing work with Winter Holben moves between buildings, interiors, and the people who shape them. Across the Foreside Inn, Portsmouth City Lifestyle, and the Walker studio, the photographs bring a design practice into view.
The coverage

The editorial story
Environmental portraits and studio scenes for Portsmouth City Lifestyle bring the people behind the practice into the picture.

A sense of place.

From the setting to the smallest detail.
At the Foreside Inn in Kittery, Winter Holben brought architecture, interiors, and brand experience together. My photographs follow those connections: the building in its setting, the character of a guest room, and the materials and details encountered along the way.
The photographs appear on Winter Holben’s own project page, alongside the firm’s account of its work.

The people behind
the practice.

The Portsmouth City Lifestyle assignment brings the story closer. Portraits and scenes from the studio introduce the people behind the architecture, with their working environment as part of the frame.

A practice in place.

Winter Holben’s own studio brings its ideas into a place of daily work. The exterior view establishes its presence on the street; the interior opens up the setting in which the practice works.

People.
Spaces.
Details.
Winter Holben describes its approach through people, place, and performance. My photographs make the people and spaces visible, and show the details through which design is experienced. Together, these assignments form an evolving portrait of the practice.
